Vicky Pattison has shared that one of her go-to breakfasts, which may seem 'boring', but is packed with numerous health benefits. It's known to keep you feeling fuller for longer, help you resist the urge to snack, and provide a boost of energy.

In an interview with Women's Health, Vicky claimed that "variety is the spice of life" and she likes to "keep [her] body on its toes" when it comes to meals. Following years of fighting negative body image and reverse body dysmorphia, the now 37-year-old has opted to follow a "sensible and kind" approach to food.

The former I'm A Celebrity winner shared some of her favourite options - but one stuck out in her breakfast choices. She mentioned porridge twice - once with a boost of protein powder then again topped with blueberries and honey.

Porridge might seem like a plain choice, but behind it all is a weatlh of health benefits. Unlike other 'health foods', it's fairly easy to slot porridge into your shopping list without going over budget.

Most shops sell an affordable option to get the meal started. Aldi's Everyday Essentials pack makes hearty bowls from 1kg of oats for 90p, which works out to 9p a bowl.

The versatile dish is quick to whip up in the microwave or on the hob. Most people do not stop at just plain porridge though, choosing to add healthy toppings of fruit that mean you can stack up the benefits early in the day.

Packed with fibre and protein, porridge aids in satiety. This potentially leads to reduced calorie intake and snacking, which may help with shedding the pounds and maintaining a healthy weight.

It's a source of sustained energy, too, due to its magnesium and vitamin B6 content, helping to alleviate tiredness. According to experts at the British Heart Foundation, porridge oats are whole grains and contain a soluble fibre called beta-glucan.

Consuming 3g or more of whole grains daily as part of a healthy diet can help lower your cholesterol level. Research has found connections between eating whole grains, like porridge, and a reduced risk of heart disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and stroke.

Increasing your protein intake has its own benefits, and it's not just for those looking to bulk up and build muscle. In fact, it can also support those trying to lose weight.

By meeting your individual protein target, your body will stop producing ghrelin - a hormone that makes you feel hungry. Instead, it will produce more appetite-reducing hormones that tell your body it's time to stop eating and curb snack cravings, helping you reduce calories and potentially lose weight.
