Ever since Timothee Chalamet stunned the world by showing up to his own lookalike contest, the trend has been growing in popularity.
The contests, which usually offer a simple prize in the vicinity of $50, have provided a venue for people to gather, dress up, and celebrate either their love of or their resemblance to certain beloved actors. The accuracy of the portrayals is consistently shocking.
Here are some of the most uncanny contest winners.
Timothee Chalamet
The one that started it all. Miles Mitchell, a 21-year-old college student, took home the giant $50 "Best Tim" check after the competition in New York City on Sunday, October 27. Clad in a purple Wonka suit, the Staten Island native bears a remarkable resemblance to the Little Women heartthrob.
Mitchell was somewhat overshadowed, however, when the real Chalamet, 28, showed up.
Paul Mescal
The Gladiator 2 actor's native city of Dublin paid tribute to him with a lookalike contest of their own. Jack Wall O'Reilly, 24, won "£20 or three pints" in the competition on November 7. The aspiring screenwriter and director even got to have a chat with his counterpart on Zoe Ball Breakfast Show!
"This is bananas," said the real Mescal, 28, upon seeing his doppelganger.
Harry Styles
The streets of London were flooded with fans of the One Direction breakout star on November 9, but Oscar Journeaux, a musician, took home the £50 prize — and a bit of publicity for his band, Parlay.
Journeaux told USA Today that the instant fame he experienced in the lookalike contest was jarring."I suppose it's a little bit of a taste of what [Styles] goes through," he told the outlet. Not everyone was on board with Journeaux's alleged resemblance, however — one X user wrote, "He looks about 2% like Harry."
Dev Patel
Three friends in San Francisco, Sitara Bellam, Tasnim Khandakar and Sahana Rangarajan, decided to throw a lookalike contest for the actor in order to get some "representation" of South Asian heartthrobs. Jaipreet Hundal, 25, said his girlfriend had always told him he resembled the Monkey Man actor/director, but he'd never believed her — at least not until he won the contest on November 16.
Jeremy Allen White
The star of Shameless and The Bear dropped jaws with his Calvin Klein photoshoot last year, but his lookalike, 37-year-old Ben Shabad, may have won even more hearts after this competition on November 16. Upon learning that the handsome doppelganger was a therapist, fans on X (formerly known as Twitter) were quick to seek his assistance for their mental health. "I'm suddenly mentally ill," wrote one such fan.
Shabad apparently won $50 and a pack of Marlboro Reds, which White's character, Carmen Berzatto, smokes constantly on The Bear.
