Despite serving a decade-long prison sentence, Tory Lanez remains determined to make his mark in music. The rapper has consistently stayed active, dropping EPs, making guest appearances, and engaging with fans via social media. However, his latest announcement might be his most ambitious yet.
In a phone call shared to Instagram on Thursday, Lanez revealed plans to record and release a full-length album in 2025. He explained that the project is still in its early stages and that he intends to complete it within three weeks.
Lanez also cited fellow Canadian superstars Drake, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and The Weeknd as his inspiration for the album. With all three artists having already released albums in the first two months of 2025, Lanez believes it’s now his turn to represent Canada.
Tory Lanez wants to make a new album from prison over the next three weeks 👀

“PARTYNEXTDOOR showed his best work of 2025, Drake showed his best work of 2025, The Weeknd showed his best work of 2025—now it’s time for me to come out,” Lanez declared.
His comments suggest he sees himself on the same level as these heavyweights, despite their differing commercial success. Lanez has collaborated with both PARTYNEXTDOOR and The Weeknd on past singles, Leaning and Best Friends, respectively. He has long expressed interest in working with them again, as well as securing a long-awaited collaboration with Drake.
Back in 2022, Lanez revealed on Twitter that he had been sending songs to Drake and The Weeknd for years, but never received a feature in return. “Been sending them songs for years … but nah, not a single one,” he wrote, adding laughing emojis to suggest there were no hard feelings.
His relationship with Drake, however, has strengthened in recent years. The 6 God has publicly shown support for Lanez and even advocated for his release from prison during a Christmas stream with Adin Ross. Given their renewed camaraderie, fans are hopeful that a long-awaited Drake and Tory Lanez collaboration could finally come to fruition.
With Lanez feeling motivated to compete at the highest level, all eyes will be on whether he can deliver an album that stands alongside the biggest names in Canadian music.
