Travis Kelce’s Super Bowl Focus Fuels Grammy Night Tension Among Taylor Swift Fans

It’s a big week in music and football as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce find themselves at the center of two massive events — the 2025 Grammy Awards today and the Super Bowl LIX next weekend. While the couple has gotten creative with how they have supported each other while Swift was on her Eras Tour, this first week of February puts their packed schedules to the test.  

Swift, nominated for six Grammy Awards, is set to present at the show tonight — and possibly take home some hardware. Her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, announced during last year’s Grammys, is up for major categories like Record, Album, and Song of the Year. Fans are wondering about what surprises she might have in store, given her history of big Grammy moments. Unfortunately for anyone hoping to see Swift and Kelce’s red carpet debut, one thing seems to be certain about tonight: Swift will be walking the Grammy red carpet solo.

Why? Because Kelce is pretty focused on another kind of stage — the gridiron. The Kansas City Chiefs are deep in Super Bowl prep after knocking out the Buffalo Bills last week (where he and Swift indulged in some heavy PDA), and Kelce is aiming to lead his team to yet another victory when they face the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday. 

On The Pat McAfee Show, Travis shared just how much missing the Grammys means to him. “I wish I could go support Taylor at the Grammys and watch her win every single award that she’s nominated for. Unfortunately, I’ve got to get ready for this big ol’ Super Bowl we got in a week,” he said.

Still, some fans aren’t totally convinced by Kelce’s absence, especially since Swift consistently shows up to support him. “When Travis doesn’t come with Tay to the Grammys because of ‘Super Bowl practice’ AGAIN despite her showing up to every one of his games even during her tour, and Tayvises still defend him — then what?” one Swiftie wrote on social media.

The frustration has only grown because this is the second year in a row Kelce hasn’t made it to the Grammys. Last year, fans felt it was understandable, as the couple had only recently started dating. “It’s two years in a row that Travis Kelce hasn’t been to Grammy Awards to support Taylor Swift,” another fan commented. “Last year I understand that their relationship was at the beginning stages. This year it isn’t, and the Super Bowl is one week away. He could’ve made less than one day, just a few hours, to be there to support her.”

While some speculate this could create tension, others also point to Kelce’s past support of Swift’s career. For those who don’t remember, Kelce attended multiple Eras Tour concerts last summer — and even showed up on stage during a show in London — proving that he’s willing to show up when his schedule permits. 

So, while the pair isn’t making their much-anticipated joint red carpet debut just yet, it’s clear they’ve pretty much mastered the art of cheering each other on — even from a distance. And fans won’t have to wait long to see her supporting Kelce — the “Look What You Made Me Do” singer is expected to attend the Super Bowl next Sunday, cheering him on alongside Brittany Mahomes as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles.
