Trey Songz is urging a judge to throw out an $11 million default judgment after he was sued for battery by a Maryland Capitol police officer.
Tyrelle Dunn says he barged into the singer’s hotel room with his security guards to save his wife allegedly, but instead, received a beatdown.
Trey was accused of misconduct in Las Vegas for his 37th birthday in November 2021. The “Bottoms Up” artist allegedly brought a group of women back to his hotel room at The Cosmopolitan hotel, including a married woman who claimed she was being held against her will.
“Plaintiff’s wife was escorted by Defendant security personnel to room 6014 where she was told she would meet Trey Songz,” the lawsuit alleged. “That while in room 6014, plaintiff’s wife was assaulted, tried to leave and had her phone taken away.”
Dunn says the attack caused him serious injuries, including fractured eye sockets and scarring that caused him to miss work.
Trey claims he did not hear about the court date until it was too late.
“[Trey] promptly engaged civil defense counsel over the Thanksgiving holiday and filed this Motion to set aside the default judgment the next week,” the court docs read, according to InTouch. “[Trey] deserves to have his day in court to defend himself, rather than being subjected to a massive default judgment which was improperly obtained in an underlying case that [Trey] knew nothing about until a week prior to filing this Motion. The enforcement of this default judgment will be devastating to [Trey] and will ruin his life.”
The judge will soon rule on the motion. The singer denies all allegations against him.
