A TV legend revealed he turned down a huge cash offer to appear on The Masked Singer.
Jeff Stelling has been flooded with reality telly offers after stepping down fronting Soccer Saturday last year. The presenter, 69, said: “A few weeks later ITV offered me an obscene amount of money to appear on their prime-time hit show The Masked Singer. After a lot of thought I turned the offer down."
“The show has had some bad singers over the years, including Teddy Sheringham and Michael Owen, but my voice would have taken it to a whole new level. Viewers would have turned off in droves, dogs would have howled and cats would have covered their ears. I have the worst voice ever.”

Jeff admitted it would also have been a disaster if he went on as he has slagged off the series in the past. He confessed: “All this is just as well as no doubt someone would have uncovered my tweets from 2020 when the show first appeared.
“’Is The Masked Singer the worst thing ever to appear on our Saturday night TV?’ I asked. "’Take it off, take it off,’ and followed that up with: ‘Oh my gosh, just seen the promo. The bloody Masked Singer is on tomorrow night too. Going to go to church instead. Take it off, take it off,’ I raged.”
In his new autobiography Saturday Afternoon Fever, Jeff said he has turned down a raft of other offers, including Strictly. He added: “I had been asked if I would be willing to meet the Strictly Come Dancing team. I had done a bit of ballroom dancing as a teenager but only because it was a great place to meet girls."
“I could not see myself on the show to be honest. Pot-bellied, short-arsed and sequinned! I remember Paul Daniels filling the veteran slot one year and he was less than magic, being the first to be booted off the dance floor.
“It sounded less than appealing – for me that is, god knows how traumatised the audience would have been – so I declined. I had also been approached by a new reality show with a working title of Mission to Mars.
“I can imagine quite a number of football fans would be more than happy for me to be sent there, but in fact the series would be filmed in the Australian outback – haven’t I heard something similar on another reality show?”
