Aimee Lou Wood, Jason Isaacs and Natasha Rothwell spent the spring of 2024 filming the third season of The White Lotus in Thailand
It’s not long now until the third season of The White Lotus finally hits our screens and we’re engulfed in the murderous and mysterious world of high-end hotels. And whilst we wouldn’t want to stay in an actual White Lotus hotel (you know, for fear of being killed), every series of the show leaves us planning her next holiday. Because for all the drama, The White Lotus does a great job of showcasing the beauty of every country that it films in and we get inspired every time.
Now we already know that on 16 February, we’re going to be transported to Thailand but let’s get more specific. Following in the footsteps of the first two series, filming took place in a Four Seasons Resort – adapted to become one of the White Lotus chain hotels. There are four Four Seasons Resorts in Thailand: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui and the Golden Triangle, but considering footage released so far seems to suggest that filming took place on golden sands, Koh Samui seems the most likely option. Plus, the internet has done some digging and the hotel had a blocked-out booking period for all of February and March 2024… Interestingly there was also a blocked out booking period for the Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas – another five-star resort in Thailand located between Phuket’s longest beach and the Sirinath National Park – in April and May. Villa Jacinta in Choeng Mon, Koh Samui is another reported filming location for The White Lotus season three.Where was The White Lotus S3 filmed?

Creator Mike White partnered with the Tourism Authority of Thailand in order to best showcase the beautiful country and in January 2024 the board revealed that the third series of The White Lotus would be predominantly set in Bangkok, Phuket and Koh Samui. A statement from the Tourism Authority of Thailand read, ‘We are honoured to have amazing Thailand featured as the filming location for the highly anticipated upcoming season of The White Lotus. ‘Our exotic natural beauty, rich historical sites, and diverse landscapes are the perfect settings to share our fascinating culture, fantastic cuisine, top-notch wellness and luxury offerings, and most importantly our people and Thai hospitality. Thailand has long been considered one of the world’s favourite filming locations.’ According to reports, The White Lotus season three was set to be filmed in Japan, but Japanese producer Georgina Pope later stated that despite scouting the country with Mike White, Thailand was chosen instead of their new tax rebate. She said, ‘It was a great scout. We saw some absolutely stunning locations all over Honshu. The showrunner loved it all, and I was feeling very confident that I had it all in the bag. ‘The Thai government had just announced a renewal and improvement on their film incentive system. A 30 percent rebate. For their project, that meant $4.4 million alone.’ It makes sense, The White Lotus isn’t exactly a cheap show to film! Maybe series four will take place in Japan?Where was The White Lotus S2 filmed?
