A version of this article was originally published on August 28.

Who is ‘The Golden Bachelorette’ winner?
Chock Chapple is reportedly the winner of Joan’s The Golden Bachelorette season. “Joan is with Chock Chapple. I do not know if they got engaged or not,” Bachelor Nation expert Reality Steve wrote his Sept, 19 Instagram post.
The post was an update and correction of an August post which claimed that Joan ended up with Guy.
In the corrected post, Reality Steve correctly predicted Joan’s four hometown dates with Chock, Guy, Pascal and Jordan, after which Jordan was eliminated. He also was correct about Pascal choosing to self-eliminate because he didn’t have a strong enough connection with Joan. So, we’re guessing that we can trust his sources who say Chock is Joan’s winner!
Joan’s connection with Chock was palpable from the first episode, as she told cameras during their hometown date. “Chock was one of my strongest connections right from the beginning, and he’s fun and he’s kind and he’s just a really good guy,” Joan gushed.
As the season has progressed, Joan and Chock’s connection has grown stronger and stronger. He told her during his Hometown Date that he was “falling” for her. During his Fantasy Suite date, Chock told Joan he felt “overconfident” about their relationship. “I don’t want to be cocky, but I felt that we were the right couple from Day 1. I was awestruck when I stepped out of the limo.”
“I’ve grown to appreciate you and to really love you more,” he added.
Joan Hinted That She Picked Chock During an October Interview
Joan may have accidentally revealed her winner during an Oct. 23 appearance on The Viall Files podcast where she gushed about Chock being one of the men she had an instant connection with.
“Chock was one of those people,” Joan said. “Immediately, I loved what he did. The Chock-o-Noodle soup was hilarious,” she added, referencing Chock gift of homemade chicken noodle soup that he gave her when they met. “But the reason that was such a good thing to do is because I realized he went and figured out who I was and what was important to me.”
This statement alone doesn’t necessarily point to Chock being Joan’s winner. However, when coupled with what Joan had to say about Guy, her only other potential match, all signs are pointing to Chock.
When asked about reports that Guy’s ex-wife filed for a protective order against him in 2021, Joan notably only referred to Guy in the past tense. “I would have never had any indication that there was any kind of past that he had,” she said. “He was so kind to me and he was so open and he was so vulnerable.”
“I still believe that he’s a kind and good person,” she said. “You know, maybe he made a mistake. I don’t know. I don’t know anything about [it] other than what you guys know.”
‘The Golden Bachelorette’ Fans Are Not in Support of Chock
Joan’s pick for her winner might not go over too well with The Golden Bachelorette fans who have called out Chock online for his somewhat overbearing demeanor throughout the season.
“Just something about Chock doesn’t sit right with me,” one X user wrote after Chock’s Fantasy Suite episode. “Chock gives me this clingy possessive creepy stalker vibe,” wrote another viewer.
These statements were also echoed by fellow contestant Pascal when he spoke to Glamour after his exit.
“Chock was all over her to the point where he was [like a] stalker. I mean, it was like, ‘I love you, let’s leave. Let’s do this, let’s do that.’ And, ‘Which side of the bed are you sleeping on?’ It’s bizarre behavior,” Pascal said when asked about Chock’s interactions with Joan during the group bowling date. “I don’t know. ‘I can’t wait to be with you. I feel my love with you.’ Maybe in Wichita there is no women. I don’t know.”
Are Joan and Chock Engaged?
As Reality Steve stated, it is not clear whether Joan and Chock are engaged. Though there are signs that Joan and Chock are still together after the show, Joan has emphasized that she wasn’t necessarily looking to leave the show with a ring on her finger. So, it’s possible that Chock didn’t propose.
“I said all along I didn’t need to leave engaged,” Joan told People in a September 12 interview. “My goal was to leave in a committed relationship. I wanted to have somebody I saw a future with and that we wanted to see how it works in the real world outside of the Bachelor bubble. I didn’t want to go through all of this and be at the same place I was when I came to the mansion.”
In typical Bachelor Nation fashion, Joan has not revealed any details about how the show pans out but she did tell Business Insider that she “came out such a happier person than I was when I went in.” Could Chock be the reason for this change?
According to his official ABC bio, Chock is a 60-year-old insurance executive from Wichita, Kansas. He’s a thrill-seeker who once went nighttime shark diving in Australia.
“He’s kind, loves adventure, and has had a successful career owning his own business,” his bio reads. “Chock has a very full life with his kids, his adorable black Lab Super Tubbs, and his work, but he knows he’s missing the one thing he wants most — love.”
“He’s hoping this is his moment to meet the adventurous, compassionate woman he’s been looking for. When Chock isn’t working or spending time with his kids, he loves exercising and rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs. His guilty pleasure is shopping, and he can’t resist a good sale! Chock is totally a relationship guy, so let’s see if Joan is the long-term love he’s been dreaming of.”
Fans know that Reality Steve has a pretty solid track record when it comes to correctly predicting winners. Back in November 2023, he correctly revealed that Gerry gets engaged to Theresa Nist in the season finale of The Golden Bachelor.
However, he is known to change his predictions based on new intel — such as when he initially reported that Hannah Brown was engaged to contestant and second runner-up Tyler Cameron in season 15 of The Bachelorette before changing the spoiler to Jed Wyatt, the season’s winner.
