Kieran Culkin has revealed why he hasn't yet introduced his two children to the holiday classic Home Alone — he believes they're simply too young for it.
The actor, who starred as mischievous cousin Fuller McCallister in the holiday classic, explained to E! News that some scenes are a bit too intense for his kids, especially his 3-year-old son Wilder.Kieran's older brother Macaulay Culkin famously played the quick-witted Kevin McCallister.
"For the 3-year-old, there's the tarantula and the guy at the end who says, 'I'm gonna bite off all your fingers.' That's scary for a 3-year-old," the Succession star said at the 2024 Gotham Awards on Monday, December 2, referring to the spider Kevin accidentally lets loose and the burglar Harry, who threatened Kevin with the violent taunt.
Kieran and his wife Jazz Charton — who have been married since 2013 — are parents to two children: Kinsey, 5, and Wilder. Though he hinted that his kids might be ready for the movie this year, Kieran, 42, said he might hold off for another year to make sure they're fully prepared for the more intense scenes. "They might be ready for Home Alone this year, but it might be next year," he joked.
Macaulay, 44, has already introduced his son Dakota, 3, to the movie. Despite being just 1 year old when he first saw it, Dakota was reportedly amused by the antics of the film. "He thinks it's so funny," Macaulay shared with Entertainment Tonight in 2023.
Macaulay and his partner, actress Brenda Song, are parents to two young sons, Dakota and Carson, 1. The couple have been together since 2017 and have been engaged since 2022, according to a People source.
