Will There Be a ‘Cruel Intentions’ Season 2? Everything We Know

2 hours ago 3

If you’ve powered through all eight episodes of Cruel Intentions on Prime Video and are already hoping for news about a second season, you’re not alone. Here’s everything we know so far about the potential for Season 2.

Is Season 2 of ‘Cruel Intentions’ Confirmed?

Unfortunately, Prime Video has not yet confirmed a second season of *Cruel Intentions*. However, don’t lose hope! Season 1 debuted on November 21, leaving Amazon plenty of time to evaluate its performance and decide whether to renew the show. Fans of the series are keeping their fingers crossed.

Based on Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’ classic novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses, this adaptation marks the first time the scandalous tale has been brought to the small screen. The original 1999 film starred Reese Witherspoon as Annette, who became entangled in a twisted bet between step-siblings Sebastian (Ryan Phillippe) and Kathryn (Sarah Michelle Gellar).

Prime Video’s modernized adaptation moves the story to a college in Washington, D.C., swapping the New York prep school setting of the film. This time, the scheming step-siblings are named Lucien (played by Zac Burgess) and Caroline (portrayed by Sarah Catherine Hook), who will go to any lengths to maintain their social dominance. The cast also features Savannah Lee Smith, Sara Silva, John Harlan Kim, Khobe Clarke, Sean Patrick Thomas and Brooke Lena Johnson.

What Have the Cast and Creators Said About Season 2?

Spoiler alert for Season 1! The season ends with several dramatic cliffhangers. Annie (Savannah) joins the Delta Phi Pi sorority but starts to question Caroline’s true motives. Meanwhile, Lucien ends his relationship with Annie and seeks revenge on Caroline by seducing her mother (his stepmother). He appears to send Caroline incriminating footage of the encounter, though viewers don’t yet see her reaction.

Showrunners Sara Goodman and Phoebe Fisher teased how this shocking twist could shape future storylines.

“There are a lot of ways to go,” Sara told Us Weekly. “These are two people who’ve treated each other terribly. We’ll have to see what their breaking points really are.” Phoebe added, “There’s a lot of depth of feeling between Lucien and Caroline. Is it beyond repair? We don’t know yet.”
