A dog owner in the U.K. revealed the reason why she thinks her Siberian husky keeps fat-shaming her, and social media users can't stop laughing.
In a video shared on TikTok in November under the username @jasfrancesxo, the pup can be seen walking on a leash with his owner, slowing down every time a bench pops up because he assumes she's going to need a rest.
"Nobody fat shames me like my dog who slows down and side eyes me every time we pass a bench on our walks," reads the layover text in the clip.
The poster, Jasmine Milton, told Newsweek that her pup, Anuko, is an 11-year-old who loves going on long hikes because he's still very active and athletic. However, she is not.
"I need to sit down for occasional breaks, which has turned into him eyeing up every bench we pass and casting me a judgmental side eye to see if I need to sit down again," she said.
The dog has gone viral before for judging his owner, something that he does frequently, with grumpy facial expressions.
If you've ever seen your dog side-eyeing you and felt judged, you might have been right. A study by scientists at Japan's Kyoto University found that dogs will judge us based on our competencies, especially female dogs.
The researchers studied the reactions of 74 dogs, which were of different ages and breeds, to different levels of competence or incompetence. They were surprised by the results.
The humans in the study were tasked to open containers holding snacks in front of them. The competent humans would open the containers without a struggle, while the incompetent ones would try unsuccessfully over and over before giving up.
The dogs watched the two groups of humans at work and eventually chose to stick by the competent person, hoping for a snack. Female dogs were even more likely to approach the competent humans.
The video quickly went viral on social media and has so far received over 1.9 million views and 483,700 likes.
One user, Rusty, commented: "Ay bro [you] sure [you] don't wanna rest a little you've been walking for 5 [minutes] straight."
Jayz wrote: "Hey at least he's considerate."
Fetus gt said: "My dog only looks back when she wants a biscuit."
