The matchup is set for Game 1 of the World Series: Right-hander Jack Flaherty will start for the Los Angeles Dodgers opposite New York Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole.
"I think (Flaherty) will spit out a good one on Friday," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday in announcing the move.

Additionally, Roberts announced that right-handed pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto will start Game 2.
Roberts said "over the next couple days, we'll talk about how Game 3 and 4 will look." One of the games at Yankee Stadium will be a bullpen game, Roberts said.
Flaherty, 29, went 13-7 with a 3.17 ERA in 28 regular season starts for the Dodgers and Detroit Tigers. He's made three postseason starts for the Dodgers, allowing 12 runs in 15.1 innings while going 1-2.
Yamamoto, 26, was the winning pitcher in the Dodgers' series-clinching win in the National League Division Series against the San Diego Padres. He's thrown 12.1 innings across three postseason starts, allowing seven runs.
Cole, who went 8-5 with a 3.41 earned-run average in the regular season after missing nearly the entire first half recovering from an elbow injury, was announced as the Yankees' Game 1 starter on Monday.

Two relief pitchers could join the Dodgers' staff if injuries allow.
Left-handed reliever Alex Vesia is scheduled to throw a live bullpen this week. Right-handed reliever Brusdar Graterol is scheduled to throw a bullpen this week. Both pitchers are "trending in the right direction" after missing the National League Championship Series with injuries, Roberts said.
"Both are going to be a game-time decision if they're going to be viable or not," Roberts said.
The Dodgers clinched a return to the World Series for the first time in four years by eliminating the New York Mets in Game 6 of the NLCS on Friday. The Yankees eliminated the Cleveland Guardians in a five-game ALCS, clinching their first World Series berth since 2009.
