K-pop in 2025 is off to a very exciting start! With long-awaited comebacks from older groups like GOT7 and GFRIEND to IVE‘s return, K-pop fans are in for a treat this January. Keep reading for a list of all the groups set to return in the first month of 2025:
One of the most anticipated comebacks is, of course, GOT7. This marks the 3rd Gen boy group’s first comeback in three years, following their self-titled EP, which was released last May 2022. On top of that, it will be their first studio album since Breath of Love: Last Piece in 2020.
In 2021, the group announced their departure from JYP Entertainment after their contracts expired, and began embarking on solo activies. In 2022, it was announced the group would be releasing music as their original 7-member lineup via Warner Music Korea. In May, they released the album and the music video of the title song, “Nanana.”
On December 7, members Jay B and BamBam officially confirmed the group was gearing up for their long-awaited comeback. In a post on X, BamBam posted a meme that read, “GOT7 is coming back on January 20, and everyone needs to know, so I bought this billboard.”
He captioned the post, “Oh god, finally, I can say this out loud. It’s been a month!! You know how hard to hold this?”
Another 3rd Gen K-pop group, GFRIEND, will be making a comeback in celebration of their 10-year anniversary.
The album is titled Season of Memories, and Source Music first announced the comeback reunion in September 2024, sharing that “the project was accomplished with the wishes from the members to present a precious memory to [GFFRIEND’s fans]”.
Following their disbandment in 2021, members Eunha, SinB and Umji went on to form another girl group called VIVIZ, while Yerin and Yuju have pursued solo careers in music, with Sowon dipping her toes into acting.
