Matt Baker has been a staple at the BBC for many years, with viewers tuning in to watch him present Countryfile each Sunday. The 46-year-old first appeared on our screens as a Blue Peter presenter in 1999 and has been captivating audiences with his charismatic charm ever since.
Presenting on the show for seven years, Matt won two BAFTAs for Best Children's Presenter, before going on to new career ventures. He has starred in shows such as Countryfile, The One Show, City Hospital, Animal Rescue Live and the 2012 Olympics party.
Earlier this year the BBC released a report showing that the Countryfile star was on their "rich list". The list was topped by Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker with a salary between £1,350,000 to £1,354,999 followed by radio host Zoe Ball at £950,000 to £954,999.
However, Matt ranked highly on the list with a reported income of £691,708 from his presenting roles.
The TV star has two firms listed on Company House - Barking Dog UK and Big Circus Company Ltd. Last year, the former saw a rise of £367,331, while the latter's income increased by £324,377. Together, both businesses made £691,708.
Matt has used some of his well-earned dough to buy a beautiful country home with his wife, Nicola. The couple share a son and a daughter - Luke, born in 2009 and Molly, born in 2011.
The TV host, his wife and kids moved from Hertfordshire to Durham to look after his parents' farm after Matt's mother had an accident.
Speaking about the living situation, he told Metro: "We have our own smallholding in the Chilterns, a smaller version of my parent’s farm, where we have our own chickens and livestock."
Matt's parents farm which is in the Durham Dales, near to Lanchester appeared in More4's Our Farm in the Dales (2021). The series followed Matt as he tried to adapt his family’s sheep farm at his childhood home, for his parents, with his wife and kids on hand to help.
The four part series shows the transition the presenter made moving his family from the south to rural living up north.
Matt made the switch from suburban living to farm life when he decided to help his parents run the 100-acre family farm after his mother was injured in a farm accident.
