Bishop T.D. Jakes was rushed to receive medical care after a health incident on Sunday (Nov. 24) while preaching at The Potter’s House Of Dallas church. In a clip circulating online from the sermon, the 67-year-old pauses mid-speech and appears to shake and sit still before dropping the microphone.

Dozens speed to his aid as the congregation stands, with some praying out loud or shouting. The live stream is then abruptly ended by the church.

Later that evening, the church issued a statement regarding their senior pastor.

“During today’s service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour-long message,” shared the memo. “Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals. The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community.”

The church continued to add, “Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers.”

According to the official website, The Potter’s House of Dallas was founded in 1996 and stands as a nondenominational Christian church. The megachurch has over 30,000 members and operates as a non-profit organization.

“The Potter’s House and T. D. Jakes Ministries seek to become a global voice, along a lifelong journey of spiritual and economic hope, encouragement, and empowerment to people locally, nationally, and around the world,” reads the mission statement.

Per The History Makers, Jakes was ordained into the Bishopric in 1987. He first preached Woman, Thou Art Loosed in 1992 before launching a weekly television broadcast on the Trinity Broadcasting Network the following year. In 1994, he began his weekly broadcasts on Black Entertainment Television (BET), and in 2001, Time magazine and CNN named Jakes America’s Best Preacher.
