‘Tis the season for battling exes! While most celebrity couples are spending time together this holiday season, some are duking it out in court amid their ongoing divorces.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck
Jennifer Lopez is seemingly digging in her high heels when it comes to her divorce from Ben Affleck. “Everyone thinks she’s moved on, but she’s actually holding out hope for a reconciliation. She still can’t believe they didn’t make it,” a source exclusively tells In Touch. The singer, 55, and the actor, 52, married in a Las Vegas ceremony on July 16, 2022 — 18 years after ending their first engagement. On August 20, 2024 — less than two months after Ben moved out of their $68 million mansion — Jennifer filed for divorce. Ben doesn’t want a reunion, says a second source, “so things have gotten a little contentious, especially when
it comes to selling their home” — which remains on the market. “It’s been four months since she filed, and nothing has been resolved. It doesn’t seem like they’re anywhere close to finalizing the divorce. They both said they wanted to do it amicably and consciously uncouple, but that plan seems to be out the window now.”
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were declared legally single in 2019, but divorce proceedings rage on. The actress, 49, has scored a victory against her ex, 61, in their ongoing lawsuit over the sale of Château Miraval. A judge has ruled Brad must hand over emails, texts and other written communications starting from the infamous 2016 private plane incident that led Angelina to file for divorce. “Brad has had his share of victories along the way and is confident this will end in his favor,” says a source. Angelina claims that Brad abused her on the plane; he denies it and was cleared by law enforcement following an investigation.
Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson
It’s the worst-kept secret in Hollywood: Jessica Simpson’s marriage to Eric Johnson is over. Divorce papers are imminent, sources tell In Touch. “She’s staying quiet about the status of her marriage until she’s ready to pull the trigger on filing,” says a source. “There’s buzz about why they split. It seems they’ve just grown apart. They’re not even living together at the moment.” The actress, 44, and the former NFL player, 45, who share three children, do have a prenup, says the source. “She learned her lesson after not having one with Nick Lachey. But she’s still concerned about her fortune,” estimated to be $200 million. “Friends say she’s trying to work things out amicably with Eric. He’s a great dad — she wants him to be comfortable — but she was the moneymaker.”
