Chappell, please drop that country anthem of yours ASAP!
Performing on Saturday Night Live as a musical guest is a significant career boon, but it isn't easy. The SNL spotlight can turn singers into stars, like Adele; however, it can also cause major career road bumps for others, as it arguably did for Lana Del Rey and Ashlee Simpson.
Based on the online reaction to Chappell's performance, it's safe to say she's firmly in the camp of singers who summited the SNL mountain.
Not only did she achieve an unlikely musical feat while performing her signature song "Pink Pony Club"...
...she also debuted a new queer country anthem, "The Giver."
Both musical numbers received huge acclaim on Twitter, so here are some of the best reactions to Chappell's performances:
First, Chappell did something highly uncommon on live TV while performing "Pink Pony Club." She not only sounded flawless but also got the live in-studio to be heard on screen while singing along:
I’m BAWLING. Looking at the camera singing “and mama every Saturday”, getting the audience to sing along, her taking the opportunity to say “Live from New York it’s Saturday Night” 😭😭 Oh Chappell… May all your dreams continue to come true 🥺😭

For her second performance on the show, Chappell surprised many by debuting a new song, "The Giver." The track isn't out yet, but this ode to queer country love is already impressing her fans:
