Richard Madeley disclosed that his daughter Chloe had a medical emergency and needed her stomach pumped - due to overconsumption of cheese.
The Good Morning Britain host shared this revelation while appearing alongside Chloe on ITV's Romesh Ranganathan's Parents' Evening on Saturday evening.
Chloe admitted that doctors informed her she had 'gone into bacterial shock' after consuming two wheels of camembert following a night out. Bacterial shock, also known as septic shock, is a potentially fatal medical condition where the body's reaction to a bacterial infection results in dangerously low blood pressure.
Richard stated: "Chloe actually ended up in A&E on Christmas morning because of cheese. She was about 17/18. She'd been out on the lash on Christmas Eve."
"We'd all gone to bed. I could hear noises coming from the nearest bathroom through the night. I thought she's not very well, she's had too much to drink."
"She'd actually come home and eaten two rounds of camembert from the fridge. She's eaten two of them in one go and she's basically got cheese poisioning", reports Birmingham Live.
Chloe then unveiled how severe her condition was, stating: "The MA [medical assistant] said I'd gone into bacterial shock."
The personal trainer subsequently had to have her stomach pumped.
Chloe, now aged 37, recently opened up about her strained relationship with her mother, Judy Finnigan, during her childhood due to the latter's health issues.
Speaking candidly to host Georgia Hayton on the Made by Mamas podcast, Chloe revealed: "It was really unfortunate actually, after I was born she got really bad postnatal depression and it went undiagnosed for a really long time and then when she was finally on a good track to getting that sorted out, it turned out that she needed a hysterectomy."
"And she'd needed one again for a really long time and didn't know about it and then when she finally had the hysterectomy it didn't go very well, the operation didn't go very well, the recovery didn't go very well. And it was just kind of really weirdly and unfortunately for our relationship, kind of event after event after event that really all got in the way of us really bonding and by the time I was a teenager, my relationship with my dad was so solidified and my relationship with my mum was just very murky and not really that solid."
