Davina McCall to have brain surgery to remove tumour

Davina McCall begged: “Pray for me” as she admitted to being “worried” over her brain tumour battle.

The 57-year-old has been diagnosed with a colloid cyst – a benign brain tumour which can cause issues like memory loss and potentially coma.

Ahead of a craniotomy surgery to remove the cyst, Davina issued an urgent message to her followers on Instagram.

She urged them not to worry, but instead to “send prayers” as her partner Michael Douglas prepares to take over her social media accounts for a while.

Explaining that the 14mm wide cyst is so rare only “three in a million” people are diagnosed with it, Davina said: “Also, I’m okay. It’s been up and down, obviously. We’ve been through a lot. But I don’t want you to worry about me, I’m doing that enough as it is.”

She added: “It will be removed via a craniotomy – they go through the top of my head here, and through the two halves of my brain to the middle, get the cyst, empty it, take it out, and Bob’s your uncle. So say a prayer for me. I am in good spirits.”

The Big Brother star has already been flooded with support from fans and celebrities alike, with This Morning presenters Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond. Alison said on the ITV show: “Davina has just put out a statement that she went through a routine scan and discovered that she has got a brain tumour but the good thing is that it is benign.

“We just want to say, all our thoughts are with Davina. We are thinking about you and you are so strong. Even in the Instagram post, she is just incredible."

Dermot chimed in: “The good thing is that it is benign. She said the chance of having it was three in a million. Sending you all our love and prayers Davina and Michael."

On Instagram, stars like GMB’s Ranvir Singh wrote: “Sending love and brave, positive, kind thoughts your way.” While Girls Aloud singer Kimberly Wyatt said: “Oh babe. Thinking about you – I can only imagine what you must be feeling. Keeping you in my heart and on my mind. Take it easy lovely one.”

And Julia Bradbury said: “You are loved and supported. Sending all my love. I know how scared you are. Recover, repair, heal. See you on the other side.”
