Eamonn Holmes of difficulties of train travel with a wheelchair
GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes has opened up about the relying on others now that he requires a wheelchair to get around.
Speaking on the Breakfast show as they discussed the Christmas travel warning which has seen motorists told to avoid the M25 during a six hour period this weekend. With the train touted as an alternative for those trying to get home for the festive season Eamonn made his sad admission.
"The train definitely could be a dream, but I'm now sort of wheelchair laden.. you rely on a lot of people to get you on and off. It's very, very difficult doing that," he confessed. "I just threw that in...it's not a concern to anybody, but there we go," he lamented.
However his co-host Isabel Webster empathised. "Well, it's a consideration lots people in the same position as you Eamonn," she acknowledged.
Eamonn has suffered serious mobility issues in recent times following back surgery and relies on a wheelchair to get around most of the time although he uses a walker for short distances.

In January this year he opened up about his ongoing "epidemic of pain" which has left him relying on a walking stick and wheelchair.
The veteran breakfast TV presenter said the "harsh reality" could be he may never be able to walk alone again, but said he was hanging onto hope it could happen.
His mobility issues forced him to miss his beloved mother Josie's funeral in November 2023. At the time he shared: “It’s as if somebody up there is playing with my life.
"In the past year I’ve had an operation on my back which went wrong and has confined me to a wheelchair. I’ve fallen and broken my shoulder. Honestly you could not make it up.”
While his back operation did ease some of his pain, he was then faced with the news that he wouldn't be able to walk. Speaking to Gerry Kelly via the Irish Independent, he added: “I have tried every treatment, but you go, ‘Maybe I’ll never get out of it,’ which is a harsh reality to face.”
