Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen may be co-parenting, but the news that his ex is expecting a baby with her Jiu-Jitsu instructor, Joaquim Valente, came as a shock to the NFL champ, friends reveal.
A well-placed Miami source who knows Brady, 47, told Page Six, “Tom only found out that Gisele was pregnant very recently.”
Although the couple share two children, Ben,14 , and Vivian, 11, the source said it was in Bündchen’s style to keep the pregnancy a secret from Brady after a difficult split.
“Tom’s great, a very nice, normal guy – Gisele is….very different. She really blows hot and cold,” said the source.
TMZ reported that the Brazilian supermodel is about five or six months along, meaning the baby would be due in early 2025.
And another insider confirmed that Brady only learned last week that Bündchen, 44, is pregnant with her 37-year-old lover, a fellow Brazilian, we hear.
The children go between Bündchen’s $11.5 million Miami estate and Brady’s home on the exclusive Indian Creek Island just across the waterway.
Asked how the relationship is between the former couple now, the Miami source added, “I think they talk when they have to.
“Tom does his best for the kids and puts them first and that’s all that matters – he’s trying his best.”
Announcing the baby news, a source gushed to People, “”Gisele and Joaquim are happy for this new chapter in their life and they’re looking forward to creating a peaceful and loving environment for the whole family.”
Bündchen has yet to speak out about her pregnancy. She appeared to be covering her baby bump with a big purse while leaving a Pilates studio in Miami two weeks ago.
But there is now the intriguing matter of when Bündchen’s relationship with Valente became romantic.
She allegedly started dating Valente, who had been teaching the family Jiu-Jitsu, in June 2023, according to a carefully worded piece in People, despite rumors they had grown intimate after they were first spotted with her kids together in Costa Rica in November 2022, one month after her divorce.
“They have been dating since June. They’re taking it slow. They started out as great friends first. She’s very private about this and wanted to keep it quiet while they got to know each other,” a source revealed in February after the couple was seen kissing in Miami on Valentine’s Day.
Valente was a “huge comfort for the model while she went through her divorce”, according to the outlet.
She later told the New York Times she is protective of her new relationship, adding, “This is the first time I am seeing someone that was a friend of mine first”.
When Bündchen filed for divorce, sources close to Brady told Page Six that the Super Bowl champ was blindsided by the split, as one said, “Gisele would always flare up and get upset about something, they would have a big fall out then she would come back, but Tom was shocked when she told him it was over, he didn’t expect it.
“They had their troubles but they always worked through them and Tom was hopeful they would do so again.”
In March 2023, Bündchen invited a reporter to her retreat in Costa Rica for a Vanity Fair cover story. The model called her divorce “the death of my dream,” adding, “It’s tough because you imagine your life was going to be a certain way, and you did everything you could, you know?”
“I believed in fairy tales when I was a kid. I think it’s beautiful to believe in that. I mean, I’m so grateful I did,” she added, “You give everything you got to achieve your dream.
“You give a hundred percent of yourself, and it’s heartbreaking when it doesn’t end up the way you hoped for, and worked for, but you can only do your part.”
Addressing rumors that she and Valente had a romantic relationship, Bündchen said, “I think, at this point, unfortunately, because I’m divorced, I’m sure that they’re going to try to attach me to anything.”
She told Vanity Fair that ideally she’d live in Costa Rica full time with her kids, happy to do yoga, play pickleball and go horse riding.
“My dream was to raise my kids here,” Bündchen admitted, “I didn’t get to be here as much as I’d like, but now I’m bringing them more often.”
“If I never went to another city again, I’d be perfectly happy,” she said, adding, “I’m a simple girl who wants to be in nature—leave me alone. I just want to go do my job and raise my children in peace.”
She went on to praise all three Valente brothers, who run a self defense studio in Florida, for being confidantes for her family. “I’m so grateful to know all of them, because not only have they helped me and helped my kids, but they have become great friends, and Joaquim especially,” she said. “He’s our teacher and, most importantly, he’s a person that I admire and that I trust. It’s so good to have that kind of energy, to have my kids around that type of energy.”
As Page Six previously revealed, Bündchen and Brady bought a multi-million dollar mansion on the exclusive Indian Creek Island – home to Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner and their kids, alongside billionaire Jeff Bezos – back in December 2020, originally planning to renovate the property and live together in an eco-friendly estate.
Brady, however, now uses it as his bachelor pad after razing the property on the island, nicknamed “Billionaire’s Bunker” to the ground. The mega-mansion is a vision of opulence, featuring a separate state-of-the-art gym, study, a waterfront pool and spa, outdoor kitchen, lush gardens and a tree-lined driveway leading to a motor court with a multi-car garage.
The former New England Patriots quarterback moved to Florida in April 2020 with Bündchen and their kids when he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after famously cutting short his retirement.
But their relationship floundered amid their move and the couple divorced in October 2022 after 13 years of marriage.
So far, the former Super Bowl champ, who officially retired from football in February 2023, has only shared a cryptic song about “changing.”
Via Instagram Stories he posted a sunset pic, scored with the Chicks’ 2022 cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.”The famous lyrics in the post read: “Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love / Can the child within my heart rise above / Can I sail through the changing ocean tides / Can I handle the seasons of my life?”
Brady was left red-faced after being teased over his divorce at his Comedy Central Roast by comic Nikki Glaser.
“Tom Brady, five-time Super Bowl MVP, most career wins, most career touchdowns, you have seven rings − well, eight now that Gisele gave hers back,” Glaser said, digging further.
“Do you guys know about his diet program? It is so strict. But if you follow it exactly as he does, you too can lose your family,” she joked.
But he’s now truly happy, according to friends, and is dating casually after a fling with model Irina Shayk and rumored hook up with Sports Illustrated star Brooks Nader.
Brady – who is also the father to 17-year-old son Jack with his ex Bridget Moynahan – regularly parties in Miami, and hangs out with his close pals with David Beckham and Miami restaurateur and club owner Dave Grutman, while he is often spotted playing golf at the prestigious Shell Bay club,
He was recently seen with his sons at the celebrity-packed Taylor Swift concert in Miami.
Meanwhile, Miami sources tell Page Six that Bündchen keeps to herself.
According to reports, Bündchen, who recently released her first cook book, and Valente are now waiting to learn the sex of the baby.
Another source says that friends don’t think Gisele and her boyfriend will wed and will continue to live together.
“There is a huge difference between them net worth wise.” said the source,”There is no point in tempting fate as far as Giselle is concerned . She is thrilled to have a third child . Many of the models she knows had a third baby in their 40’s. Adriana Lima for one. She is in a cocoon right now. And the kids are excited to welcome a new sibling.”
