Leanna Lenee is telling her side of the story.
ICYMI, Colorado Buffaloes football wide receiver-slash-cornerback Travis Hunter won this year’s Heisman Trophy! That’s a HUGE honor! But sadly it turned into something negative after the athlete revealed his fiancée was having a tough time dealing with haters.
You see, Leanna has been getting WILD amounts of hate for a while now. It all started back in 2022 when she revealed that she didn’t want to get with Travis right off the bat. Then, it all continued when she didn’t give her man a standing ovation on Sunday following his big win. And then, fans started saying she had an “attitude” on her face in later videos circulating social media.
The 21-year-old wide receiver took to Twitch on Sunday following the award ceremony and shocked his fans. He revealed the hate his lady had been receiving for the past few years has gotten to her badly — so much so that she got drunk and cried herself to sleep. Ugh!!

That is seriously so heartbreaking. And it’s all over petty, completely outlandish reasons, too! Poor girl. At least she has a man who will defend her.
Now the social media star is defending herself, though, too. After her fiancé’s worrying comments on his livestream, she took to TikTok on Monday to set the record straight. She posted a lengthy video where she explained EVERYTHING she’s been getting dragged for. She began by explaining the whole standing ovation situation, where she said:
“When his name was called, I instantly was going to get up — if you watch the video, his mom didn’t get up, so I was like, ‘Oh, maybe I don’t get up, I just sit here’. As soon as I seen Travis get up, then I thought it was appropriate to stand up, greet him, congratulate him. But then, there was a camera right in front of Coach Prime [Deion Sanders] and I knew they were going to film that moment and because of how people are online, I was like, I don’t want to be in that shot, so I sat down.”
Makes sense! She was letting her man have his moment! Leanna continued:
“I got out of the camera, purposefully, so they can have their moment. That’s all it was. No one told me to stand up, no one had to tell me to celebrate with him. I was just sitting there crying, I wanted to take it in. I was super excited for him. But I wanted the moment to be about him and his family.”
So she was trying to be respectful and the internet twisted it around into disrespect? Oh, and for those wondering if Travis was just telling his girl’s business to the world before this, the 23-year-old also revealed that she gave her boyfriend her full permission to air out her grievances on the livestream!
Leanna said that in the grand scheme of things, the reason she was so down and drained was because of all the hate that’s been piling up over the years. A person can only handle so much before they break! One instance that seems to be weighing on her mind, though, is when she was allegedly accused of being jealous of Travis celebrating his team’s win over Oklahoma State with a bunch of CU cheerleaders. The college football star’s fiancée explained this theory was wrong, and that it was just from “bird-brained” haters:
“People thought I was upset with him celebrating with cheerleaders. I don’t know where that started, but that’s not what I said … The things that I see people make up is truly crazy because that’s not what happened. I just think people are finding every single little thing and making it something it’s not. Bird-brained individuals are just accepting what they see online.”

For the most part, fans in the comments seem to generally be on team Leanna, too. However, there is a big divide. It’s clear some people still think she’s playing Travis:
“God save this brother please”
“Let em talk. You go enjoy this great chapter together.”
“I feel sorry for travis hunter is going to Learn the hard way”
“I mean I guessssss”
“I’m so confused because the hate literally came out of nowhere”
“give it 5 years when his contract is up”
“good acting”
Yeesh…
