BBC star Helen Skelton, 41, couldn’t hide her excitement as she caught her second oldest child, Louis, seven, transfixed by Blue Peter.

The Countryfile host presented the beloved kid’s show from 2008 to 2013, and shared two Instagram Stories of her boy watching it on TV at home. In the snap, Louis was sitting at their large dining table seemingly writing Christmas cards, with Blue Peter playing on the television screen opposite him. “Life made… watching Blue Peter,” Helen wrote over the candid moment.

Helen then shared a short video in which Louis gave up his card writing completely, and was standing right beside the TV while fixated on the action. “Let me tell you about this one time son… Blue Peter legacy going strong…” Helen captioned the video, tagging fellow Blue Peter legends Anthea Turner and Gethin Jones.

Alongside Louis, Helen shares Ernie, nine, and Elsie, born in December 2021, with her England rugby league player ex-husband Richie Myler. The couple announced their split in 2022 after eight years of marriage, and Helen now lives in a beautiful new home in Cumbria - her home county - with the kids.

Helen opened up to the Mirror about her life as a single parent, joking: “I always say it’s not a kid that needs a nanny, I need a nanny – to do all the boring stuff.” The star still admitted: “I’m very lucky... most of my friends work way more, in offices or schools or hospitals. They take the mick because I don’t work half as much as they do. TV work is feast or famine, so you have a crazy few weeks, then you have a really quiet month.”

While Helen’s no stranger to challenges and adventures, she added: “Having kids is the ultimate ironman. It’s incredible, I think women need to hear that. I’ve done marathons, I’ve done ultra marathons, but labour is harder.”

Back in September, it was revealed that had Richie welcomed his second child with his new partner Stephanie Thirkill. Stephanie and Richie welcomed their daughter, Olivia, into the world last year and are now proud parents of son, Freddie, who was born In July, according to reports.

Helen was married to the director of rugby for Hull FC for eight years before she announced on Instagram that Richie had "left the family home" just four months after the birth of their youngest child Elsie. It seems he quickly moved on with Stephanie, and had to adapt to the stress of co-parenting his kids with Helen. She revealed: "You appreciate the other in this situation. I don't think he'll ever say again, 'What do you do with the kids all day?' Sometimes he would get in from work and he'd be that husband that would look at the kitchen and say, 'How is this still a mess when she’s been off all day?' Now he's done it he's like, 'How does she stay sane?'"

Helen has touched on how she felt when she learned that Richie had moved on with Stephanie. In her autobiography, In My Stride, she wrote: "I was in shock. I know that following break-ups, people often say they didn't see it coming and it sounds like a cliché, but that was me."
