House of David is the forthcoming drama straight from the pages of the Bible - here’s the lowdown on the new show.
Prime Video will be premiering House of David on Thursday, February 27 with audiences getting the first three episodes in one go worldwide.
The rest of the episodes will be airing weekly thereafter and there is a total of eight instalments in the drama series.
House of David will follow David (played by Michael Iskander), who will go on to become the most celebrated king of Israel after reining monarch King Saul (Ali Suliman) falls victim to his own vanity and pride.
Under the direction of God, the prophet Samuel (Stephen Lang) anoints David - an outcast and lonely teenager - as the new king.
King Saul slowly begins to lose power over his kingdom as David begins his ascent.

He goes through a rite of passage as he navigates love, loss and violence in King Saul’s court to become the ruler he must be.
A trailer dropped recently for House of David and shows the unlikely titular hero answering his call to destiny as he prepares to take on the Philistines in the name of God.
Audiences will also be treated to the legendary battle between David and giant Goliath (Martyn Ford) with the teen using his trusty slingshot to win the day.
The footage of Hollywood blockbuster proportions promises a sweeping story with drama, grit and brutality in a faithful depiction of the Bible tale.
House of David’s cast is led by aforementioned newcomer Iskander, who has recently come off his Tony Award-winning musical Kimberly Akimbo with the show marking his first screen credit.
The Egyptian-born star went to live in America when he was nine, learning English and quickly becoming adept at the piano and guitar as well as songwriting.

Iskander also stars opposite Ayelet Zurer as Queen Ahinoam, Indy Lewis as Mychal, and Yali Topol Margalith as Mirab.
Further casting includes Ethan Kai as Jonathan, Sam Otto as Eshbaal, Oded Fehr as Abner, Louis Ferreira as Jesse, Davood Ghadami as Eliab, Ashraf Barhom as Doeg, Alexander Uloom as King Achish, and Aury Alby as Joab.
House of David comes from the faith-based production company the Wonder Project and has been produced by Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn, among others.
The Chosen’s creator Dallas Jenkins is credited as serving as a special advisor to the Wonder Project.
