How Christopher Dean found love with Dancing On Ice co-star and are they married

4 hours ago 5

Christopher Dean has been in a relationship with former Dancing On Ice co-star Karen Barber since 2011, having been friends for three decades before things turned romantic between them.

Despite some assumptions from fans, the long-standing couple have never married.

The figure skaters were both married prior to falling in love with each other, and since publicly confirming their relationship nearly 15 years ago, prefer to keep details of their relationship out of the limelight.

Before finding love with Karen, Christopher was married to French-Canadian World ice dance champion Isabelle Duchesnay between 1991 and 1993. The former couple met while he was choreographing for her and her brother Paul Duchesnay in the late 1980s.

Post-divorce, he started a relationship with American figure skater Jill Trenary, and they got married in 1994. The couple are proud parents to two sons - 26 year old Jack and 24 year old Sam.

Sadly, after over a decade of marriage, Christopher and Jill's relationship came to an end. In March 2010, the Dancing On Ice judge's agent confirmed their separation but reassured that they remain on good terms for their children.

Meanwhile, Karen was previously married to Stephen Pickavance, whom she shares daughters Emma and Laura with.

Back in 2011, Karen, who works as a coach behind the scenes on Dancing On Ice and was previously a judge, was papped kissing Christopher. This resulted in her publicly confirming that her 21-year marriage to Stephen had ended some time before.

Tackling the rumours head on at the time, the couple released a joint statement which read: "We have been great friends for more than 30 years. Following recent media speculation, we feel the necessity to confirm that this year has seen a change in our relationship, but we are taking things very slowly, as it is early days.

"We'd very much like to thank our dear friends, who have been so incredibly supportive to us. We both have families with children, so we ask the media to please respect their privacy."

Christopher and Karen have never publicly addressed the idea of marriage, so it is not known if this is something they would consider in the future. However, the pair have clearly found happiness in each other over the course of their long-lasting romance.
