A 54-year-old dad's mock clothing haul with his daughter's Shein package has left TikTok users in hysterics.
The Generation X (Gen X) father, David Dougherty, had humorously tried his hand at replicating a popular online trend—unboxing and modeling items in a "clothing haul," this time with a Shein order. The clip, posted to TikTok on October 19 by his 20-year-old daughter, Mia, under @miadoughertyy has since garnered more than 1.3 million views, making the dad an unlikely internet sensation.
Viewers online were able to see Dougherty open a package intended for Mia, filled with trendy, cropped clothing from fast-fashion retailer Shein. What ensues is a lighthearted mockery of the haul videos that dominate social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, beginning with Dougherty opening the video with the words "Shein haul."
The father, who is known on TikTok as @dabe_doc, is captured awkwardly holding up various items of clothing, including skimpy crop tops, against his chest while his daughter provides playful commentary from behind the camera.
"That's the back," Mia says at one point in the video when her father inadvertently holds a black crop top backward.
The post had been captioned: "He wanted me to tell y'all there's a surprise ending."
The lighthearted video has prompted thousands of comments and reactions from viewers on TikTok who cannot get enough of David Dougherty's impromptu haul demonstration.
"I would love to catch up Dave," one TikTok user wrote.
Another added: "Don't worry dad, we have to do the same thing when we open them up, how do I wear this?!"
A third user posted: "Him styling the outfits I love."
"This is great dad content and I'm with you on the see [through] I'm not a fan I have a daughter as well lol," a TikTok user wrote.
"I just know he's thinking 'I need to see pictures of these outfits before you go out,' seriously green flag dad," another user commented.
Even the retailer itself left a comment on the post, through its official TikTok account, @shein_us and wrote: "Ok, we need to talk about a style series. How can our people be in contact with your people."
Mia Dougherty has continued to share similarly humorous videos on TikTok featuring her father and his humorous take on clothing hauls, some of which have racked up millions of views.
