Charlie Ross, a familiar face on several BBC antique programmes, joined Bargain Hunt as one of the main presenters in 2018.

The 73 year old antiques expert and auctioneer is also known for his work on Flog It!, Antiques Road Trip and Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is, and it seems retirement is not on the cards just yet.

Before finding fame, Charlie had a long career in auctions, starting off as an estate agent straight out of school. He discovered his knack for auctioning when he found himself selling chickens and turkeys.

He later moved into antique furniture and eventually set up his own auction house in Woburn, Bedfordshire. But how much is the presenter and auctioneer worth?

Express Online delves into the on-screen expert's wealth.

Charlie is not only a Bargain Hunt presenter but has also run his own auction house for over 25 years.

He has carried out a variety of auctions, including antiques, vintage cars, residential properties, and even intellectual property.

His current work as a presenter and auctioneer would have contributed to his wealth.

According to British Arts, British auction houses make around 50 per cent of the deal between a buyer and a seller for fine art, such as paintings.

Jobs site Indeed states that an auctioneer often charges a commission for the gross sale of an item, with between 10 per cent and 15 per cent being typical in the industry.

Auctioneers are also eligible for bonuses, while others set a commission rate and a minimum fee and may choose the higher amount depending on the situation.

The auction industry can be lucrative, depending on the type of items, with antiques and rare objects bringing in large amounts of money.

According to Antique TV Shows, Ross' net worth is estimated at £793,000 ($1,000,000). However, Viral Net Worth estimates his net worth to be around £18,000,000 ($23,000,000).

Charlie is a freelance auctioneer and is likely to earn different sums from various auctions.

In his illustrious career, Charlie Ross has set several records for selling items at the highest price ever. He once held the record for the highest price ever achieved for a car sold by auction in the US.

This was a 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa Prototype, which fetched over $16 million in 2011. However, this record was surpassed in 2013 and again in 2014 when a Ferrari 250 GTO was sold in Carmel, California for over $38 million.

In 2018, Charlie made headlines again when he sold a 1935 Duesenberg for $22 million making it the most expensive car ever to sell at auction in the US.

Charlie also once held the record for the largest profit on a single item on Antiques Road Trip. He purchased a chipped Staffordshire elephant clock for a mere £8, which later sold for a staggering £2,700 at auction.

However, his co-stars have since broken this record. In 2016, Anita Manning transformed a £50 Buddha statue into £3,800, and in 2017, expert Paul Laidlaw bought a Chambre Automatique De Bertsch sub-miniature camera for £60, which he then sold at auction for an impressive £20,000.
