TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson opened up about the moment doctors told him he could be 'days away from death'.
The former Top Gear star recently revealed he underwent a heart procedure after a "sudden deterioration" in his health. He described the entire ordeal as the "wearisome effects of growing old." The presenter detailed how he had been swimming in the Indian Ocean on holiday when he first faced difficulties using the stairs, and that when he returned home a "sudden deterioration" began to gather pace.
He felt "clammy" and had a "tightness in my chest" with "pins and needles in my left arm". Having heard the news of former Scottish first minister Alex Salmond's fatal heart attack, he decided he needed to see his doctor. He said he then went to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford via an ambulance, where they ruled out a heart attack after undergoing an electrocardiogram (ECG), blood tests and X-rays.
After ruling out the heart attack, they sent him off to the operating theatre. He explained: "But then one of the doctors, who was so senior he wasn’t even a mister, decided that before sending me home with a headache pill and a “fraud of the week” certificate, he’d put me in a big Polo mint."

'Maybe,' he said." He had a stent fitted within two hours. The device works to prevent future heart attacks by improving blood flow to the heart.
Jeremy continued: "It wasn't especially painful. Just odd," adding that he has thought since: "Crikey, that was close." Jeremy also tried to make light of the situation admitting that he was "wondering what water tastes like and if it's possible to make celery interesting" after his health scare. He already gave up smoking after he got pneumonia while on holiday in Spain.

Jeremy had what appeared to be an injury as he talked about book recommendations after his holiday with Lisa Hogan. He gave an overview of a few novels, including Annihilation by Michel Houellebecq and Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver. However, his book reviews were a way to segue into his own book, Diddly Squat: Home to Roost.
