Katie Maloney Says She ‘Normalized Bad Behavior and Treatment’ by Tom Schwartz

2 weeks ago 4

Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz decided to move on from one another after 12 years of marriage. The Vanderpump Rules stars couldn’t have had it easy while everything unraveled, even though hindsight is always 20/20.

Indeed, Katie experienced sad revelations one after the other following her divorce. Granted, that’s only natural. If outside observers can’t help sharing their reflections, how’s Katie supposed to stop?

For example, Katie’s former friend Lala Kent opined that Schwartz never chose Katie in their relationship. Of course, Lala also said that Katie emotionally abused Schwartz, so, take her words with a big grain of salt. Ultimately, Katie’s and Schwartz’s words are the only ones that matter. So, what does Katie have to say now?

How Katie Maloney realized what she deserved in her life

During her recent appearance on the Brutally Anna podcast, Katie discussed how her marriage changed. She shared, “For a long time, I normalized bad behavior and treatment that I just didn’t deserve. And I’m not saying I was innocent in all of it. Of course. I can be very difficult.”

Katie also opined that Schwartz “didn’t know how to be a partner.” Three years after marriage, Schwartz did not have “the same goals and intentions.” Katie admitted it was difficult to recognize these problems. Even when suggesting divorce, Katie admitted she “was still very much in love with him.”

But by way of increased self-love, Katie managed to do what she needed to do. “I just started to love myself again. And I think through that process, I was looking at the rest of my life like being, ‘Hold on, like, I don’t deserve this.’ I always thought I did. I think I just normalized so much to myself.”

Katie added, “It was really heartbreaking to come to that sort of conclusion of understanding what’s best for me but just trying to fight it.”

Vanderpump Rules is streaming on Peacock.
