Laura Prepon responded to her estranged husband Ben Foster’s divorce and disputed the date of separation listed in his petition, In Touch can exclusively report.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Laura, 44, agreed that the marriage was over due to “irreconcilable differences” and the two “unable to live together successfully as husband and wife.”
As In Touch first reported, Ben, 44, filed for divorce in September. He listed the date of separation as September 9, 2023, which would have been two days after their former pal Danny Masterson was sentenced to 30 years to life in prison.
Laura and Danny, 48, starred on That 70’s Show together.
In her response, Laura said that she denied the split happened in September 2023.
She said the date of separation is September 9, 2024. She said she believes Ben’s team made a “typographical error” when drafting his petition. Ben and Laura were married for six years. They wed on May 25, 2018.
The exes share two children. In his filing, Ben explained that they signed a prenuptial agreement before walking down the aisle.
His petition requested that the court “make an equitable division of the marital assets and debts based on the terms of the parties’ prenuptial agreement.” Ben also asked that both parties pay their own legal bills.
The actor hired a powerhouse attorney to represent him in the case. Ben is represented by Rose Palermo who has represented Billy Ray Cyrus in his bitter divorce from Firerose and Kristin Cavallari in her divorce from Jay Cutler.
Ben and Laura started dating in July 2016 and were engaged months later. They had a daughter named Ella the following year.
In 2020, the then-couple had a second child, whose name they have not revealed. Laura spoke out about her decision to leave the Church of Scientology in 2021.
She revealed in an interview that she was no longer a practicing member. “I’ve always been very open-minded, even since I was a child. I was raised Catholic and Jewish. I’ve prayed in churches, meditated in temples. I’ve studied Chinese meridian theory,” she told People.
Laura said, “I haven’t practiced Scientology in close to five years and it’s no longer part of my life.”
Ben was never a member of Scientology, per reports.
“We meditate daily and I’m really liking it … because it’s something that helps me to hear my own voice and it’s something we can do together,” Laura said. In 2019, Laura spoke about how her and Ben handled balancing their family and careers.
“Ben and I are really great about if I’m at work, he’s [at home], and if he’s at work, I’m [at home],” she said. “[But] I do feel guilty, and I just know that [Ella would] be proud if she knew. I’ve talked to a bunch of women [asking], ‘How do you do this?’ And they’re just like, ‘There’s really no solution. You just do it..”
Laura recently appeared on Netflix’s The 90’s Show, which is a spinoff of That 70’s show. She returned as her character Donna Pinciotti.
Laura is also known for her role as Alex Vause on Orange is the New Black, which aired from 2013 to 2019.
