A forensic investigator has offered a new theory on why Liam Payne may have been acting erratic before he died in Argentina last week.
Fernando Cardini, a forensic toxicologist, said it was "a cocktail of chemical substances that is very complicated for any living organism" in an interview with Está Pasando (TN).
He added: "He took drugs, but being in a different country, perhaps the drug he bought did not have the same concentration he expected. Maybe the dose was too much for him."
Partial results of the toxicology tests on Liam Payne's body have been released.
Liam tragically died after plummeting from his third-floor suite at the CasaSur Hotel in Palmero, Buenos Aires. Before his fatal fall last Wednesday, he was observed behaving unusually in the lobby by other guests.

Now, a forensic study was carried out on materials extracted from the musician's body determined the presence of cocaine, a source told Infobae.
The information comes from the partial advance of the toxicology report on the case, which is still being carried out, said the same source.
A separate report revealed that as well as cocaine being inside the British musician's body the longest, there was pink cocaine, which may contain traces of methamphetamine, ketamine and MDMA. Benzodiazepines and crack were also found.
The Buenos Aires City Police, in charge of the laboratory analysis of the material found in the former One Direction singer's hotel room, concluded the first part of the studies and already has the preliminary results.
A test was also carried out on the white powder found on the desk, but the nature of this substance, apparently cocaine, could not yet be established.
There were also various biological remains whose studies have already been completed but are being kept strictly confidential.

He added: "What the forensic doctors said is that he showed no signs of defending himself before the fall.
"[A person], before falling, has the instinct to put his hands out to protect himself. When you are intoxicated, you reach a degree of unconsciousness.
"He died from the fall, but the combination - of drugs - was very relevant."
Heartbreaking new footage has shown Liam Payne’s dad, Geoff, looking over the balcony which he fell from.
The clip looks as though a drone captured it and shows the distraught father of the One Direction star, who died last Wednesday, being comforted as he took in the third-floor drop which killed his son.
Geoff Payne arrived in Argentina on Friday to repatriate the body and went to see the site of the tragedy at the hotel in Buenos Aires.
It’s been reported that Paul Higgins, the head of security for the famous boyband, accompanied Geoff to offer him support and security.
