One Direction star Liam Payne allegedly became more 'erratic' after girlfriend Kate Cassidy left their Argentinian trip and headed home, mere days before his death.
The singer died at the age of 31 following a devastating fall from a third-floor balcony at a Buenos Aires hotel. Staff at the hotel Casa Sur Palmero had escorted Liam to his room after becoming concerned about his behaviour, and had also called emergency services.
In the call, made on October 16, workers told operators that the father-of-one had been seen 'acting erratically in the hotel lobby and smashed his laptop', according to local reports. Shortly afterwards, employees heard a loud sound coming from the courtyard, where Liam's lifeless body was discovered at 5pm that evening.
The tragedy came after what appeared to have been a happy holiday for loved-up couple Liam and Kate, who shared footage of themselves dancing at a Niall Horan concert, and enjoying a relaxing 1 pm breakfast. In these bittersweet clips, Liam appears full of fun and thrilled to be spending time with loved ones - seemingly a world away from how he spent his final hours.

The reported source, who is said to be close to influencer Kate, told PEOPLE: "Like you could see from the Snapchat videos, he was a different person around her."
Kate flew back to the US on October 12, explaining to TikTok followers at the time: "I was so ready to leave. Love South America, but I hate staying in one place for too long we were supposed to be there for five days, turned into two weeks and I was just like, 'I need to go home'."
Last week, a so-called friend of Kate's told the New York Post that Kate was worried that Liam would go on a bender once she left, likening her dilemma to a 'hostage situation'. The source shared: "She can't leave, or else who knows what will happen? And if she leaves, what will he do? But she has other responsibilities, other things that she's supposed to be doing. So she finally had to make a decision."
They continued: "They're in Argentina and it's like a hostage situation. So she tells him she wants to leave, this is after a week. He begs her to stay. She keeps extending her trip, a day, two days. And he just wants her to stay, stay, stay."

Buenos Aires Police/AFP via Gett)News outlets, including La Nacion and Clarin, have since confirmed that photos which show traces of a white powder and burnt aluminium foil, as well as a smashed TV, had been taken inside Liam's deluxe suite. Argentinian news portal Infobae also reported that forensic experts had found traces of cocaine in Liam's body, however, tests on the white powder had so far proven 'inconclusive'.
Prosecutors have said Liam may have fallen while 'in a state of semi or total unconsciousness' during what has been described as a substance-induced psychotic episode. Other unconfirmed reports from the US have claimed a cocktail of drugs, including 'pink cocaine', crack cocaine and benzodiazepin, were found in Liam's system during a partial autopsy.
Liam had long been open about his issues with alcohol and drugs, which fans had hoped were behind him. Giving a joyful update in May 2023, the popstar revealed he'd been sober for more than 100 days, and felt 'amazing'. He told iFL TV: "I'm sober now, over 100 days. I feel amazing, I feel really, really good and the support from the fans has been really, really good, so I'm super happy."
Although investigators have indicated that they don't suspect any 'third-party' involvement, TMZ reports that officers are looking into the possibility that an individual from Liam's hotel had supplied him with narcotics. As previously reported by the Mirror, final toxicology results are still pending, and it may be a few weeks before this information is made public.
