Molly-Mae Hague celebrates birthday with Maura Higgins

Maura Higgins offered a brief but supportive four-word response after Molly-Mae Hague returned to social media following her breakup with Tommy Fury.

Despite Maura making a beeline for Tommy while he was coupled up with Molly-Mae in the Love Island villa, the two have remained inseparable since leaving the show.

Tommy and Molly, who met on the dating show in 2019, announced their breakup in August, a year and a half after welcoming their daughter, Bambi. After sharing the news, Molly took a short break from social media, returning a few weeks later with a lakeside post.

Dressed in casual clothes and overlooking the river from a cosy waterside cabin, she captioned the post: "Thank you for being the best online friends I could've ever wished for," alongside a white heart.

Several fans and celebs left supportive comments, with close friend Maura writing: "LOVE and ADORE YOU," alongside another white heart emoji. Maura still follows Tommy on Instagram, as does Molly.

Last night, Molly mirrored the same support back to Maura, with her own four words, when she made a brutal comment targeting the current I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! series. In an Instagram post, she declared, "the series has begun," suggesting that the show wasn't as exciting until Maura's arrival in the Australian jungle on Thursday.

Maura made her late arrival into the Australian jungle alongside Reverend Richard Coles on Thursday night. As part of their late arrival, the pair were assigned the challenge to convince their fellow campmates that life in the Jungle Junkyard is really tough - despite having been assigned luxury accommodation, unbeknown to other celebrities.

For now, Maura and Reverend Coles will stay mostly separate from the other stars, except while taking part in challenges with them, but viewers are now preparing for what could be an awkward encounter between the former Islander and fellow campmate Barry McGuigan. Before appearing on Love Island in 2019, Maura was romantically involved with Barry's son Shane.

Before becoming a household name on ITV, Maura and Shane were an item for a year, their paths crossing when she was working as a ring girl and he was ringside commentating. Following in his father's footsteps, 36-year-old Shane is now a respected boxing coach with his own gym in South West London, training up-and-comers like Chantelle Cameron, George Groves, Carl Frampton, and Lee McGregor.

A source revealed to The Sun: "Maura has brains and beauty, and she quickly caught Shane's eye." Maura and Shane's romance was reportedly short-lived due to their hectic schedules and distance between them. According to the Express, a source revealed: "They went on a few dates and had fun, but Maura lives in Ireland, Shane is running his successful boxing gym in London, and then she was travelling for work so it wasn't easy to pull off," adding: "There were no hard feelings when it ended. It turned out to be short lived and the spark fizzled out."
