Nelly Surprises Ashanti With Lavish Tropical-Themed Birthday Party

Nelly gives his fans a look at Ashanti Island, sharing a vlog of the R&B singer’s tropical-themed birthday party. In the clip, uploaded to social media last Saturday (Oct. 19), the two musicians can be seen enjoying the company of each other, plus friends and family at the celebratory event.

Ashanti seemed to be expecting a smaller more intimate gathering. Her pleasantly surprised reaction to the lavish event is also caught on camera in the video recap.

The New York native’s birthday came on Oct. 13. She turned 44 years old.

“Happy Bday To the most beautiful woman in the world,” wrote the St. Louis rapper on Instagram. “Putting Smiles on your face is something i wake up thinking about and the thing I love doing the most… grateful to have someone who loves and appreciate me as much as I do them … love you mama.”

“Awwwwww Thanku babe!!!! U did such an amazing job!!!!” Ashanti responded in the comment section.

“You always go out of ur way to make me smile…I love & appreciate u sooooo much!!! I’m so grateful to have the most thoughtful, kindest, loving man in the world! This birthday was so special & meant everything to me. I love u infinitely.”

Nelly and Ashanti first began dating in 2003 during the height of their respective musical careers, before breaking up in 2013. They officially rekindled their romance in 2023, confirming their relationship while speaking on the Boss Moves with Rasheeda podcast.

“The growth has been like superb, you know, like on both ends,” detailed Ashanti in June of this year after news broke that the two were engaged. “We are both at a place where like before, sometimes we would argue and walk out, slam the door, and not talk for a few days. Now, it’s kinda like, ‘All right, you good?’ […] It’s not like holding on and bickering and we find out what the resolution is,” noting, “We are so, so aligned.”

Reportedly married on Dec. 27, 2023, the two lovers welcomed their first child together, Kareem Kenkaide Haynes, earlier this year.
