When Princess Anne stepped out for a Royal engagement last week, spectators couldn't stop talking about her sentimental outfit.
The Princess Royal, 74, made an appearance at the British Standards Institution's International Electrotechnical Commission Annual Meeting in Edinburgh last week.
And it became apparent to many that she was wearing a treasured piece of the late Queen Elizabeth II — an eye-catching purple suede jacket. She paired the checkered garment with a matching skirt, as well as a silk printed blouse with a high neckline.
It appears to be one of the royal's favourite pieces – as she wore it earlier in the year during her visit to Nottingham West Primary Care Network and GH Hurt and Son in February.
It is a sweet nod to her mother, who wore the jacket back in 2010 as she got off the Hebridean Princess at Scrabster Harbour, Scotland. And according to the Express, many were moved by the poignant fashion statement.
One commentator took to X to gush: "How lovely. This is a nice gesture from Princess Anne and a lovely tribute to her mum. She is awesome. I love her."
Another remarked: "Like mother, like daughter." And a third admirer noted: "Always supporting her mum."
The Princess Royal was among dignitaries at a special commemorative service on Wednesday to mark the 200th anniversary of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS).
The service at St Giles' Cathedral in Edinburgh saw SFRS staff, politicians and guests from around the UK gather to mark the bicentenary of the world's first municipal fire service, which was founded in Edinburgh in 1824.
The service came after a ceremony earlier in the day to re-dedicate a statue of James Braidwood, known as "the father of modern fire services", in tribute to his legacy.
