King Charles III isn’t messing around when it comes to his younger brother, Prince Andrew. According to an updated edition of Robert Hardman’s book, Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story, the monarch has officially cut off financial ties with him.

In the book, the author claims that Charles ordered the Keeper of the Privy Purse to stop paying for his brother’s security team (which had been previously reported) and cut off his $1.3 million annual allowance. “The duke is no longer a financial burden on the King,” a Daily Mail source shared.

The Duke of York has been stripped of almost every royal privilege that was given to him after his scandalous association with the late pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein. The only thing he’s hanging onto is Royal Lodge, which might be for the sake of his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

With his allowance yanked away and the potential for being forced to downsize from his current residence to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s former U.K. home, Frogmore Cottage, it could mean a significant hit to Beatrice and Eugenie’s royal inheritance. Andrew is desperately trying to keep the 34-room property in the family, but real estate expert Terry Fisher told Aberdeen Live that it’s not that simple.

“Andrew’s long lease, reportedly lasting 75 years, shows that he’s invested significantly in Royal Lodge, giving him strong occupancy rights,” he said. “He might hope to pass the property on to his daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, once he can no longer reside there.”

“Royal leases often include restrictions around succession, especially for properties intended to serve working royals,” Fisher explained. “Such leases aren’t always straightforward inheritance-wise; transferring the lease to non-working members of the family could likely require the Crown Estate’s approval, especially under King Charles, who might prioritize other uses for Royal properties.”

That means that Charles, and eventually Prince William, will likely have final say on where Andrew lives. With two major financial blows this year, it remains to be seen how the Duke of York will afford the upkeep on the home. Eugenie and Beatrice could see their expected royal inheritance to be much smaller than anticipated.
