Anna Samson, best known for her role as Mia Anderson in the Australian soap Home and Away, is set to make history as the first female Detective Inspector in a Death in Paradise series. The British-Australian actress will star in the upcoming spinoff, Return to Paradise, as DI Mackenzie Clarke, reports OK!.

However, it's not just Anna's on-screen talent that's garnering attention. Fans are equally intrigued by her off-screen life, particularly her past relationship with fellow actor Lee Jones.

The pair, who first met on the set of the 2017 TV thriller mini-series Wake in Fright, later starred together in Home and Away. Interestingly, they played siblings Mick and Joe Jaffries in Wake in Fright before sharing the screen again in Summer Bay, where Lee joined Anna as ambulance officer Luke.

The couple made their relationship public by sharing personal photos on social media, giving fans a glimpse into their life away from the cameras.

While Anna's career has been on an upward trajectory, she and Lee have kept their romance low-key. There hasn't been a couples' picture from them online since 2021, and they've stayed mum about where they stand currently, fuelling speculation about whether the TV duo are still an item.

However, earlier this year, Anna, 34, did drop a couple of adoring heart-eyes emojis under one of Lee's Instagram snaps.

Anna is no stranger to heartfelt interactions with her followers. She recently penned an open letter on Instagram to address the abuse hurled at her by "dangerous" cyberbullies, including her fierce clap back at the toxic online behaviour.

Fans are eagerly anticipating Anna's return to the small screen as Detective Inspector Mackenzie Clarke in the upcoming drama 'Return to Paradise', which follows an Australian ex-pat turned London police detective who heads back down under to crack a murder case alongside local law enforcement.

Return to Paradise starts on Friday 22 November at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer
