Brian Redmond is known for his no-nonsense approach as a judge on RTE’s Dancing With The Stars. But fans may not know that the dancer and radio presenter also likes to dabble in DIY.
Like many homeowners, Brian’s penchant for DIY began during lockdown, and when his dance studios were forced to close, he turned his attention to his back garden and completely transformed the outdoor space.
Brian moved into the Kildare home with his wife Jennifer and their two children in August 2018, and in the summer of 2020 he transformed the space into a safe haven away from the covid chaos - and saved himself thousands in the process.
Speaking to RSVP Live at the time, Brian said: “Let’s just say I saved myself thousands by taking up the challenge myself”.
Brian impressively created two seating areas, built a low concrete dividing wall, installed outdoor lights, used old planks to create some stunning side planting containers and even sowed the lawn.
Since then, Brian has well and truly caught the DIY bug and most recently he renovated his kitchen by sanding and painting the doors.
Brian also previously renovated his bedroom, which involved demolishing and replastering a wall, moving sockets and switches, installing panelling lighting and painting. The end result is a stunning space with Georgian style panelling and painted in a chic teal blue that pops against the gold pendant lighting.
Speaking of his love of DIY, Brian wrote on Instagram: "Little known fact perhaps, I love DIY projects. Having looked back at all the projects I have taken on over the last few years, I have decided to do a few more. But this time I’m going to share all the grimy details along the way. I hope you enjoy and maybe get inspired to give it a go yourself".
