Shirley Ballas once proved the intensity of her love for partner Danny Taylor with a permanent tribute to him.

The head judge on Strictly Come Dancing, 64, is said to have recently split from her partner - only three years after announcing their engagement. Shirley and Dan first met each other in 2018. At the time, the duo were starring in the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk and became quick friends.

It wasn't until months later that they fell for each other, but Shirley said it was 'love at first sight' for her. And now, according to claims, it was professional ballroom dancer Shirley that made the decision to end her relationship, which she has been public about over recent years.

In 2022, the couple tested their relationship on BBC One series, Unbreakable, and made it all the way to the final. They had to complete a number of tests to prove how strong their relationship was. They unsurprisingly passed all the tests but one moment had fans question whether their relationship would last.

Shirley got a tattoo of his name on her back

"I've been married twice, Danny's never been married. I'm not going to lie, I would like to marry Danny. I would," she told the cameras. "I believe in the institution of marriage, it's not so important to Danny." He responded: "It may not be something that's at the forefront of my mind, if it's important to you, then it's important to me."

He was touched when Shirley also had his name tattooed on the bottom of her spine as part of an overall design that honoured members of her family. She place him in the centre and said: "I wanted to pull the family unit together, so I wanted to pull my brother's side, and I wanted to pull my freedom side and my son, and my mum and niece.

"So I did little ladybugs for my mum and my niece, and I joined them with Danny in the middle which represents the head of the family now, because I trust him enough that he'll take care of my mother and I, and be there as I will be there for him." Some fans thought the tattoo wasn't a good idea for their relationship.

One user said on social media: "This is more BBC Three. Move it over. #unbreakable also not believing Shirley’s relationship," while another posted: "Shirley’s besotted. Him, not so much #unbreakable." One said: "Shirley’s partner looks completely bewildered throughout, and a bit scared of Shirley’s intensity. She so wants him to commit. He isn’t so sure. Tattoo? Mmm, not sure that was a good idea."
