Kevin Parker has created a new synthesizer.
The Tame Impala artist released the instrument, called the Orchid, through the electronic instruments company he co-founded, Telepathic Instruments. Described as an advanced chord generating hardware synthesizer, the Orchid is meant as a tool for producers, songwriters, and musicians to help them further explore their artistry.
“Orchid isn’t just about how much you know or don’t know—it’s about shaking up your creative process,” says Telepathic Instruments co-founder Charl Laubscher. “It’s a tool for anyone who wants to step outside their musical comfort zone, to experiment and to find what’s on their mind.”
Parker first developed the Orchid over 10 years ago. In a press release, the instrument works by “employing a unique chord logic system, combined with a multitude of ways to shape and alter the chords to maximize creative musical expression.”
In addition to Laubscher, Parker's Telepathic Instruments co-founders are Ignacio Germade, Chris Adams, and Tom Cosm.
