Celebrity chef Tom Kerridge has opened up about the surprisingly simple pastime that was instrumental in his 12 stone weight loss.
Kicking alcohol to the curb and overhauling his eating habits was just the beginning for Tom, who soon realised that upping his exercise game was necessary too. This is when he plunged into the world of swimming. Chatting with Grace Dent on the Comfort Eating podcast, Tom laid bare the changes in his physique thanks to his pool sessions. "I lost 12 stone," he explained. "I put some back on in terms of volume because of weight lifting and muscle mass.
"I swam so I had a longer, thinner swimmer's body. I've stopped swimming now, I go to the gym and lift and have become much wider." Grace, clearly stunned by his new appearance, remarked: "You're just so radically different looking! ". The Michelin-starred maestro even teased at swapping his weights for water once again, saying: "At some point I'll say I'm going to stop that, and start swimming again," reports the Daily Record.

"We all know that, we're not stupid. So I was 39 and I just went: 'what am I doing? '" The celebrity chef spilled the beans on his favourite virtuous snack too, saying: "It is the ultimate snack! It's cheese and grapes. "It's cheddar and red grapes and they're always in my fridge because it's very easy, you don't have to do any cooking. It gives you a burst of sugar and vitamins." Alongside managing four gastropubs and eateries, Tom has graced our TV screens with regular appearances on BBC Two, most notably on his show "Lose Weight and Get Fit with Tom Kerridge", which was broadcast in 2020.
