Your first outing post-breakup is usually one marked by a dramatic shift in your personal style. Indeed, entering your single girl era typically involves shedding your relationship baggage and emerging carefree and lightweight in whatever ‘best dressed’ looks like to you. For Zoë Kravitz, however, her closet is taking the high road—literally.
Rather than pandering to stereotypes of a ‘revenge dress’ following the news of her split from ex-fiancé Channing Tatum, the actress remained faithful to her tried-and-tested uniform of effortless, cool-girl luxury. The Blink Twice director made her first public appearance following their separation in New York overnight, cutting a relatively incognito figure in capsule wardrobe staples from The Row and Saint Laurent.
Yes, there were no dramatic hair transformations chopped and dyed on a whim or scantily clad ensembles to, quote Olivia Rodrigo, “get him back”. Instead, Kravitz looked relatively demure and protected from onlooking paparazzi in a conspicuous silhouette that honestly could’ve easily blended into the construction site in the background. (See photos of the look, here).
Kravitz kept her outfit loose and languid for the stroll, wearing oversized denim carpenter jeans in a dark navy wash, a tank top and an oversized woollen trench coat made from a similar midnight hue. She topped her look off with Saint Laurent’s round frame Sl 567 sunglasses, a new season Le 5 à 7 Bea bag in grained leather and a pair of well-loved zip-front ankle boots from The Row. In fact, the most risqué element of her look was the fact that she chose to go braless which if you’ve been an adherent of Kravitz’s sartorial philosophy for a while now, would know is nothing
out of the ordinary.
Yes, Kravitz won’t be signalling anything through her clothing and keeping a consistent style profile till she’s ready to address the situation herself. Kravitz and Tatum’s breakup came as a massive revelation, especially considering how intimate they appeared on the recent press tour for her directorial debut film. The former couple had just celebrated their first year engaged before calling it quits in late October. According to sources, the duo severed ties as they “haven’t been on the same page and grew apart”.
Tatum also hasn’t broken his silence on the split but did share a post on Instagram promoting his upcoming film, Roofman. We may no longer get to enjoy their incredible complimentary couple style, but at least we’ll always have Kravitz’s street style serving throughout every season of life.
