Alec Baldwin isn't done talking about Rust — and he says the truth is still out there.

During a chat with David Duchovny on the Monday, December 16 episode of Fail Better, the 66-year-old Hollywood icon revealed there's more to the story behind the fatal on-set shooting that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in October 2021.

"There's more to come," Baldwin said. "But the more to come is now my effort, and it's going to be undeniably a successful effort, to raise and to expose what really happened."

The 30 Rock star has maintained that he didn't pull the trigger on the prop gun that discharged during filming, killing 42-year-old Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. Baldwin initially faced involuntary manslaughter charges, but the case was dismissed in July after evidence emerged that prosecutors had withheld information from the defense.

"The truth of what happened has never been told," the Beetlejuice actor said. He also claimed the media painted him in the worst possible light, adding, "The mainstream press and the tabloid press suppressed every story that could benefit me and amplified every story that could hurt me."

Reflecting on the backlash he's faced since the incident, Baldwin didn't mince words. "When people hate you on that level, they want three things," he told Duchovny, 64. "They want you to die. They want you to go to prison. And the third thing is they want you canceled, which is like being in prison or being dead because you roam the earth and you're invisible."

Through it all, the Boss Baby star credits his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, for standing by him. "I owe my wife everything," he shared. "She is the most spiritually ascended human being I've ever met, and she was kind to me and supportive of me. She was frustrated. She was in pain. She suffered tremendously."

Since the case was dismissed, Alec has been cautiously optimistic about his future. "I do believe that by the communications I've had lately, that things are coming back my way to work, and I'm happy for that because I've got seven kids."

The Emmy winner shares seven children with Hilaria, 40 — Carmen, 11, Rafael, 9, Leonardo, 8, Romeo, 6, Eduardo, 4, María, 3, and Ilaria, 2. He's also dad to Ireland, 29, with ex-wife Kim Basinger.
