Billie Eilish Calls Out Body-Shamers: Every Time the Songstress Clapped Back

2 hours ago 6

Throughout her time in the spotlight, Billie Eilish has become known for speaking out against body-shamers. The songstress has made it a point to wear baggy clothing in order to combat critics who may have something to say about her looks.

“It’s all about what makes you feel good. If you want to get surgery, go get surgery,” the singer said during a May 2021 interview with British Vogue. “If you want to wear a dress that somebody thinks that you look too big wearing, f–k it — if you feel like you look good, you look good.”

She further explained her ongoing body image struggles and said, “Because of the way that I feel that the world sees me, I haven’t felt really desired. But that’s really my whole life, though, so I don’t know if it’s anything to do with fame … Showing your body and showing your skin — or not — should not take any respect away from you.”

When photos of the “Bad Guy” singer in a fitted tank top surfaced online, fans went wild after seeing her body for the first time. When touching on the images during the same Vogue interview, Billie revealed what the public was saying about her. “It made me really offended when people were like, ‘Good for her for feeling comfortable in her bigger skin,’” she said. “Jesus Christ?! Good for me? F–k off!”

Fellow Hollywood star Kat Dennings came to Billie’s defense after the October 2020 photos were shared, and told haters to “f–k right off” if they had something to say about the pictures. “Any woman in the spotlight is already under a tremendous amount of pressure and the internet is gross and awful and I hate it,” Kat — who fans may know from Thor — said during a November 2020 interview with Entertainment Tonight. “I don’t know if it’s because she’s so young and it just feels so inappropriate for anyone to comment on any young person’s body. People forget themselves because the internet is this wall they can hide behind.”

Kat continued, “I felt personally affronted by [the comments] because she’s a beautiful young girl who is making unbelievable, earth-changing art.”

On multiple occasions, Billie has addressed the controversy surrounding her clothing and explained why she’s made the decision to wear baggy designer looks. Scroll through our gallery to relive all the times that the singer stood up against body-shamers.
