Cardi B Causes Stir With Video Suggesting Election Results Are Why Certain States Get Hurricanes

2 weeks ago 3

Cardi B seemingly shared her opinion about the outcome of the 2024 presidential election on social media but quickly deleted her words after they sparked backlash online.

In a since-deleted video posted to X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday night, the “WAP” rapper used a face filter as she said, “This is why some of y’all states be getting hurricanes.”

While the Grammy winner didn’t specify who the message was intended for, her comment was made briefly after Republican candidate Donald Trump won over hurricane-prone states like Florida, Louisiana, Texas and North Carolina.

X users criticized Cardi for her deleted video.

I love Cardi but she’s so weird for that….

The musician, who endorsed Kamala Harris by delivering an unapologetic speech about women’s rights at the politician’s rally in Milwaukee earlier this month, also posted “We need a hail mary” after early poll results showed the Democratic nominee lagging Trump in key swing states.

Cardi’s appearance at Harris’ rally led to a spicy exchange with X CEO Elon Musk, who endorsed Trump, after he called her a “puppet” for supporting Harris.

“Another puppet who can’t even talk without being fed the words,” the SpaceX founder wrote in a Nov. 2 post on X alongside a clip of Cardi’s speech at the rally. “The Kamala campaign has no authenticity or true empathy.”

Cardi fired back at Musk the same day in a separate post, replying, “I’m not a puppet Elon.. I’m a daughter of two immigrant parents that had to work their ass off to provide for me! I’m a product of welfare, I’m a product of section 8, I’m a product of poverty and I’m a product of what happens when the system is set up against you….But you don’t know nothing about that.”
