Couple Find Dog Stuck in Landfill Container, They Refuse to Give Up on Him

3 hours ago 1

A man saving a stray dog from a landfill site dumpster has melted hearts online.

A TikToker called @prisgreyeyes shared footage of her partner walking across the snow with a mattress, which he placed into the container as a ramp to help the dog walk out. The video garnered 38,500 likes and 323,800 views on TikTok.

"Went to the landfill, there was a dog in one of the containers. My babe took time out of work to go take the dog out..," she captioned the post.

In the video, he positions the mattress at a slant inside the container, trying to prompt the dog to walk up it to reach him.

He maneuvers it and shakes it slightly to guide the dog toward its escape, but the dog doesn't seem to understand.

Then, the man climbed over the top of the container, placing his leg on the mattress to guide the dog out. The dog rewarded him with a big kiss of gratitude.

Sadly, the couple do not know where the dog went afterward, as the TikToker revealed in the comments.

What to Do If You Find a Stray Dog

According to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA), if you encounter a stray dog, follow these steps.

  • Stay calm and assess the situation. Approach the dog slowly and avoid making sudden movements to prevent scaring it.
  • Check for identification. Look for tags, a collar, or any signs the dog belongs to someone.
  • Secure the dog safely. Use a leash or rope to secure the dog and prevent it from running into dangerous areas.
  • Contact local authorities. Notify animal control or a local shelter for assistance.

TikTok users were deeply moved by the rescue.

"The kiss of gratitude at the end," said one user.

"You and your husband are amazing. thank God u came by when you did. Do you think he fell in looking for trash? Hopefully nobody would dump that beautiful pup," said another.

"Almost cried when the dog sat and smiled up at him," added a third.

"People are seriously the worst we don't deserve animals at all. Thank god for your husband," added a fourth.
