DWTS Alum Lindsay Arnold Shares Her Take on This Season’s Low Scores

3 weeks ago 4

Dancing with the Stars alum Lindsay Arnold joined the show as a pro during Season 16. She danced in the troupe for a few seasons, then became a pro again for Seasons 21 through 28. During Season 25, Lindsay and Jordan Fisher won the Mirrorball.

However, Lindsay has not been on DWTS since Season 30. Instead, she has been spending time with her growing family. But, she is cheering on her sister, Rylee Arnold, who is dancing with Pommel-horse hero Stephen Nedoroscik. Season 33 of DWTS has featured some odd scoring from the judges. The judges this season are Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli. So, Lindsay is weighing in on what she thinks is happening in the ballroom.

Lindsay Arnold thinks that “there needs to be some direct comparison” between the dancing duos

While the judges’ scoring system seems a bit off, so does the choice of some of their guest judges. Gene Simmons was a disaster on “Hair Metal Night,” while Mark Ballas was delightful on “Dedication Night.“

Meanwhile, Lindsay broke down what she thinks is going on in a TikTok. She captioned the video, “All the respect to our judges just wanted to give you all maybe a new perspective on this.” She said, “Get ready with me while I address the kind of interesting judges’ scores that we’re seeing on Dancing with the Stars.” The former DWTS pro added that some of the scores were “a bit confusing.”

Lindsay stated, “Week after week, I find myself just kind of like, ‘Wait, what?’ Week one, we saw some pretty high scores. I was actually at that show and I remember being shocked.” She continued, “I feel like maybe they wanted to just keep the energy super positive and not have any audience members booing or having it be this big, dramatic, negative thing. So they were being nice and giving higher scores, which I love.”

However, there is a downside. “For a lot of the dancing couples who are really, really good, if they already started at a seven or even an eight,” Lindsay explained, “there’s not a lot of room to grow from there.”

For Lindsay, it seems like the judges are scoring the competitors on an individual basis. “At this point in the competition … I do feel like there needs to be some direct comparison. And when we’re seeing eights given out to one couple and eights given out to another,” Lindsay said, “in my mind, a lot of times I’m like, ‘OK, but those weren’t equal dances.’”

The former DWTS pro also weighed in on the lack of 10’s so far in the competition. “One thing I am a little bit confused by is how we haven’t seen a 10 yet,” she added. “I feel like because we do have so many good dancers this season, they don’t wanna give out that 10 because then they have nowhere to go,” Lindsay stated, “With that being said, the judges’ job on Dancing with the Stars is very hard. Also, it’s like, no matter what they do, not everyone’s gonna be happy.”

Dancing with the Stars continues Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC and Disney+.
