Former Strictly Come Dancing star Ellie Taylor was left in shock following the results of the 47th presidential election in the United States.

On Tuesday morning (November 6), Brits up and down the country woke up to the news that Donald Trump has become president once again. The politician previously served as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021 before Joe Biden stepped into office.

The 78-year-old politician made history earlier this year after he became the first sitting president to be convicted of a crime. He was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records following a six-week trial back in May.

The president was accused of having concealed a payment to buy the silence of Stormy Daniels, a former adult-film star, in the final days of his 2016 election campaign.

Now, the dad-of-five will enjoy his second term in office following his victory against Kamala Harris. As the results came in overnight, the comic took to Instagram to share her disappointment at the surprising news.

In the early hours of the morning, she shared her shock and disappointment with her loyal legion of fans online. She wrote: “Another leisurely morning with the baby but today I get to wake up to the apocalypse being covered on CNN. America, you ok hun?

“One day. ONE DAY a woman will be president and it won’t be Meryl Streep in a disaster movie. I’m so sorry if you’re over there and feeling horrified/ sad/ scared.”

The former Ted Lasso star added: “It’s so depressing to watch from afar and must be suffocatingly so if you’re actually on the ground.”

At the time of writing this article, Donald Trump is close to winning his second term in office with an impressive 267 votes to Kamala Harris’ 224.

The mum-of-two, who is married to CNN correspondent Phil Black, watched as the Trump delivered his victory speech to a crowd of supporters in Florida after he won the key swing state of Pennsylvania.

He thanked the crowd, saying this was “the greatest political movement in all time” and that he was going to “help our country heal.”
