David died from heart-related problems that included cardiac arrhythmia and hypertensive cardiovascular disease, TMZ reported on December 19, 2024.

He also reportedly had a history of pulmonary embolism, which the Mayo Clinic explains “is a blood clot that blocks and stops blood flow to an artery in the lung.”

In light of the findings, David’s passing has been ruled as a natural death.

90 Day Fiance’s David Murphey’s Family Confirmed His Death

The former TLC personality’s death at the age of 66 was revealed on December 18, 2024. “We are deeply saddened to announce that David Murphey, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away at home on December 11, 2024,” his family wrote in a post shared via his verified Instagram profile.

“David was a veteran, small business owner and software engineer. He had recently retired from the Clark County Treasurer’s office in Nevada, having also worked for H&R Block and IGT,” his family wrote. “He was also well known for his time as a cast member on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days.”

While reflecting on his time on the show, David’s family said that he was able to “connect with viewers, see the world and share his experiences with his thousands of followers on Instagram.”

“He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and fans. David has survived by his two sisters and his cat Gamera,” the caption continued. “The family asked for privacy during this difficult time.”

What Happened to David Murphey on ‘90 Day Fiance’?

David made his reality TV debut during season 4 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days when he met his then-girlfriend, Lana, for the first time. The pair connected on Eastern European dating app Anastasia Date, and they were in contact for seven years before they met in person.

Throughout their romance, David guessed that he spent around $100,000 due to the site’s fees for sending messages and live chats.

Prior to their time on the show, David attempted to meet Lana in person three times. However, the meetings never took place because she stood him up and came up with excuses.

David and Lana got engaged during his fifth trip to meet her and they made plans to begin the K-1 visa process. However, the couple revealed that they never went through with the wedding and broke up by the time they appeared on the tell-all in June 2020.

“She told me a couple weeks ago that all she wanted was a white picket fence and a simple life with me, traveling in the RV. She loves that idea, but right now, today, I think we’re not together,” he said at the time. “That’s not saying we won’t be together in the future, but we’re not together [now].”
