Anne Hegerty, also known as The Governess, has quashed rumours of her exit from Beat the Chasers after she was replaced on the show.

The TV star was absent from the episode, which was filmed three years ago and re-broadcast on ITV1 on Thursday night. This led to Australian quiz master Issa Schultz stepping into her shoes. Issa, dubbed 'The Super Nerd', is a celebrated Chaser on the Australian version of the show.

He holds eight victories at the Australian Quizzing Championships between 2011 and 2021, and has featured on shows like The Rich List and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? as reported by the Mirror.

In the episode, he joined forces with five of the country's sharpest minds - the Sinnerman, the Beast, the Menace, the Vixen, and the Dark Destroyer.

They were all ready to take on a new group of contestants hoping to outwit the chasers and secure a substantial cash prize. Bradley Walsh returned as host, welcoming Maud from Belfast who hoped to win a trip on the Orient Express by taking on the Chasers.

Meanwhile, Back to the Future fan Richy aimed to gather enough funds for his own DeLorean, while Stuart from Dorset was eager to accumulate as much money as possible to buy a new campervan.

Anne's absence caused speculation among fans, sparking worries that she had left the show. However, she has since reassured viewers on social media, confirming that she remains a key part of the team.

Anne Hegerty, one of the stars of The Chase, took to X to set the record straight: "I haven't left, am not leaving, and wasn't leaving when Issa had to stand in for me when I caught covid NEARLY THREE YEARS AGO."

'Beat The Chasers' first graced our screens in April 2020, quickly becoming a fan-favorite as an upshot of the beloved original quiz show 'The Chase', which kicked off in 2009 with brainboxes Mark Labbett and Shaun Wallace.

Having joined the elite team of quizzers in 2010, Hegerty has become an integral part of the series with a multitude of episodes under her belt, and clearly, she's won over the heart of the nation.
